OVERVIEW

When I was about ten years old, I fell in love with woodworking. I spent most of my weekends at the school shop, making crossbows, wooden sailboats, carved totem poles and wooden trucks.. I evolved into making lamps, tabes, chairs and Frank Loyd Wright style furniture, and working with wood became a lifelong, passionate hobby.

As I approached my 60th birthday, I began to realize that I should take up something more sedentary, without the risks of losing fingers in machinery. That’s when I decided to start painting.

I started by studying techniques used by my favorite painters, including Russell Chatham, Claude Monet, Gustav Klimt, Maynard Dixon, and others. Early on, I was able to spend two weekends with Russell Chatham in his studio in Inverness California, which was a breakthrough experience.

I have been showing my work in the Seattle area for about twelve years, mostly in local coffee shops, but also working with interior designers on the West Coast. My work is also represented by Smith And Vallee Gallery in Edison, Wa.

Beacuse of my woodworking background, I am able to make all of my own frames. My “Fine art” frames are as elegant as any I have seen on the market. They compliment my work without overshadowing the piece itself. My box frames are generally better suited to larger work.

If you are interested in seeig more of my work, please contact me at wilonboswell@gmail.com for a visit to my studio in North Seattle. I encourage people to do so, as I always have a large number of pieces on hand which are not on my website and have not been seen in public.

I also offer crating and shipping services to buyers from out of town.

Follow me on instagram at Lush Paints to stay abreast of my most recent work.

I appreciate your interest in my paintings.

Sincerely,

Will Boswell
